Netflix opened an expanded Warsaw office that houses about 300 staff across engineering, content, marketing, global affairs, communications, finance and talent. The city-centre building brings its Central and Eastern European creative operation together with what Netflix calls its only technology hub outside the United States.

The engineering mandate

Netflix says the Warsaw engineering team designs and builds products for its global ecosystem, with planned expansion in infrastructure, gaming and production technology. The company opened its first Polish office in 2022 and established the dedicated technology hub in 2023. Co-chief executive Greg Peters tied the two halves of the site together publicly, describing Poland as a source of creative talent and its Warsaw engineers as building for the wider service. Netflix says the engineering footprint will keep growing but publishes no hiring target.

Ten years of Polish production

Since launching locally in 2016, Netflix says it has produced or licensed more than 700 Polish films and series, including more than 80 originals. More than 60 Polish titles have appeared in its global non-English weekly Top 10 lists. Those figures are company-reported and reflect Netflix’s own catalog and ranking systems.

The economic claims

Netflix attributes more than 3 billion złoty in Polish GDP contribution to its activity, plus work with over 40 production companies, more than 5,000 cast-and-crew jobs and 14,000 extra or day-hire roles. The release does not provide the underlying economic-impact methodology, so those numbers should be treated as company estimates rather than audited national statistics.

A film-restoration commitment alongside the office

Netflix also announced a partnership with FINA, Poland’s National Film Archive, to restore more than a dozen Polish film classics. That commitment is smaller than the office in headcount terms but easier to verify over time than a GDP estimate: restored titles either appear and are watchable or they do not. It also points at the archive rather than the commissioning slate, which is an unusual direction for a streaming service marking a local anniversary.

Why the combined office matters

Placing production technology and regional content teams in one building gives Warsaw a role in both software infrastructure and commissioning, and makes Poland more than a location for local-language production in Netflix’s structure. Staffing levels, project allocation and measurable economic effects remain details to track rather than assume from an opening announcement. Every figure above comes from Netflix’s own release; NexusGG has not independently audited them.
