Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero – Super Limit-Breaking Neo launched on July 30, 2026. Bandai Namco's announcement, written by associate brand manager Zanda Ra, puts the headline additions at around 30 new playable characters, four new stages and a solo mode called Limit Breaker Journey. The base game arrived in 2024 as the first Budokai Tenkaichi entry in 17 years, launching with more than 180 characters and now carrying over 200.
Limit Breaker Journey builds one fighter rather than a roster
The new mode centres on a single character the player chooses and develops. It runs on an interactive map where selecting a destination triggers events or battles, and encounters award EXP along with Battle Arts. SP earned in the mode buys abilities and stats, and equipped Battle Arts unlock effects such as limited-time boosts to ki-based attacks or increased attack power while in Sparking mode.
The constraint is what gives the mode its shape: there is a cap on how many Battle Arts can be equipped at once, so progression is a series of trade-offs rather than pure accumulation. Levelling SP also yields points that can be distributed across six separate stats, and a run can be repeated with the same character to keep training them. A developed fighter can then be taken into player matches and offline battles.
How it sits alongside the existing solo modes
Sparking Zero already carried Episode Battle with its branching story paths, the Custom Battle creator and the later Survival Mode. Limit Breaker Journey is an addition to that set rather than a replacement, and Bandai Namco frames it as a different kind of single-player time investment: character development across repeated runs instead of set-piece scenarios.
Stages, interactions and the free side of the update
The DLC adds four stages — Kami's Palace, Kame House, Bitter Tundra and Stratosphere, the last covering both Earth and Planet Vegeta — and extends the series' destruction system, with Kami's Palace destructible down to the ground itself. New characters carry unique pre-battle interactions with the existing cast. Separately, Bandai Namco says free updates accompany the release, adding Sparking Boost and Chain Blast for players who do not buy the DLC.
What the announcement leaves open
The post is a content announcement. It does not publish the full new-character list, name a price, or set out how the DLC is split between a pass and any standalone purchase, so entitlement and regional pricing need checking on the store listing itself. Post-release matters such as online population, netcode behaviour and competitive balance cannot be established from an announcement, and NexusGG has not played the DLC.
