Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch for PlayStation 5 on April 8, 2027. Square Enix describes it as the concluding entry in the remake trilogy that began with Final Fantasy VII Remake and continued with Rebirth. Pre-orders are already open, but the more consequential edition detail is that the Premium package includes two story-focused downloadable expansions.
The Highwind expands travel while party control gets faster
The newly shown world is built around broader movement. Players can cross the map aboard the Highwind, use a grappling gun to reach rooftops and switch instantly between party members while exploring. Piko the chocobo also returns as both a mount and a combat companion whose abilities develop with the party.
Revelation adds the Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear system, shortened to FITS. Four specialized outfits — Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner — change both appearance and combat function. Square Enix also says players can choose which party member handles certain quests, with those decisions changing specific scenes and gameplay situations.
The expensive edition sells early access and future story content
Every pre-order includes the Mecha-Chocobo and Moogle Summon Materia. The Premium Edition adds 24-hour early access, the Story Expansion Pass, an accessory and consumable items. Square Enix has not yet described the two story DLCs or dated them, so the pass is currently a promise of future content rather than a defined roadmap.
The Premium Plus Edition adds a digital art book, mini soundtrack, a separate summon materia, armor and another accessory. No price appears in the PlayStation Blog announcement. Players deciding whether the upgrade is worthwhile therefore have two missing pieces: the edition price and the scope of both story expansions.
Queen's Blood also returns with a new Red XIII storyline and opponents that can alter how matches unfold. Together with the Highwind and faster character switching, it suggests the finale is expanding systems introduced in Rebirth rather than discarding them for a narrow closing chapter. No other launch platform is named in the announcement.
