Saros Zenith Adds New Game+, an Eight-Boss Rush and Slower Combat

The free PS5 update turns New Game+ into a configurable challenge built around Carcosan Modifiers. It also adds short and full boss-rush sets, while new speed and control options lower the reaction and input burden without deleting enemy attacks.

A winged Overlord with a glowing circular face looms over a structure in Saros: Zenith

Saros received its free Zenith update on October 19, giving every owner on PlayStation 5 two new post-game routes: the Eclipse Layers version of New Game+ and a timed Overlord Rush. This is not just a harder restart. Housemarque has tied the replay campaign to a larger modifier system, while adding controls that can make the same projectile patterns easier to read and manage.

The result stretches Saros in both directions. Players who have finished the campaign can construct harsher runs and chase leaderboard times; players who struggled with its speed or sustained trigger inputs can slow the game, enable automatic fire and use motion aiming. The main new content costs nothing beyond owning Saros, though online score comparison requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account.

Eclipse Layers makes the difficulty setup part of New Game+

Eclipse Layers unlocks after the campaign. Each layer begins by asking the player to choose a loadout of Carcosan Modifiers and meet a required modifier threshold before starting. Later layers raise that requirement, but they do not dictate one fixed rule set: the player decides which Trials will supply the necessary difficulty. Zenith adds 10 new Trials and 10 new Protections, bringing the available Trial pool to 25.

That turns New Game+ into a build decision rather than a single global difficulty switch. Hostile Regeneration, for example, lets gunfire stun larger enemies but makes a melee strike necessary to finish them. Corruption Melee Enhancement works in the opposite direction: it is a Protection that converts accumulated Corruption into extra melee damage when Arjun connects, without removing Corruption's threat to maximum Integrity. Choosing the two together would change both the danger and the answer to it.

The layers also add a visible measure of that risk. Arjun gains a crown and golden armor whose appearance grows with the active Trial balance. The crown is not purely cosmetic: its level reveals more text in 12 new Visions hidden around Carcosa, linking higher-challenge runs to additional story material instead of reserving every reward for a score screen.

Overlord Rush offers a 10-minute set or all eight bosses

Overlord Rush is accessed through the Primary Unit in Passage and strips the challenge down to boss execution. Incursion and Ascension contain three Overlords each and are designed to fit into roughly 10 minutes. Totality places all eight Overlords from the main game into one continuous gauntlet. The integrated leaderboard can be filtered by Main Weapon, so a specialist can compare a run against players using the same weapon rather than only chasing one overall table.

Slow Game Speed changes reaction time, not the attack patterns

The new Slow Game Speed option keeps enemy attacks and projectile patterns intact but gives the player more time to read telegraphs and choose between jumping, dashing, shielding or parrying. Its strength is adjustable, and it can activate automatically during combat or be toggled manually. Weapon Auto-fire removes the need to hold a trigger while aiming at a hostile, but it does not automate the timed input for a perfect reload.

Zenith also adds DualSense motion-sensor aiming and high-contrast visuals. Together, these options address different barriers: Protections alter the rules of a run, Slow Game Speed reduces its reaction-time demand, and auto-fire reduces a repeated physical input. None is presented as a substitute for clearing the campaign before Eclipse Layers becomes available, but they give more players a practical route to that post-game challenge.
