Rockstar Games has not confirmed that any of it comes from Grand Theft Auto VI. What the company has done is send copyright takedown notices to accounts hosting the material, a response reported by Engadget and visible in the pattern of videos disappearing within hours of being posted.

The material carried watermarks and a message framing the release as a fight over how games are sold. According to Engadget's account, the objection is to physical editions that ship with a download code instead of a disc, and it extends to digital pre-orders and to publishers letting single-player games become unplayable once servers move on. The person posting has threatened further releases and has aimed the same complaint at other publishers.
Treat the stated motive as a claim, not a verified biography. Someone with access to an internal build and a grievance about disc-based ownership are two separate assertions, and only the first is demonstrated by the material itself.
This lands three weeks before Rockstar's own reveal
On August 6, Rockstar announced that Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET — 10 p.m. in Israel — and arrives on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the game's own site six hours later, a Netflix-first window we covered separately. That is the first sanctioned gameplay presentation since Trailer 2 in May 2025, and it now has to compete with grainy clips that circulated first.
The useful thing to watch is not the next clip. It is whether Rockstar says anything on the record before August 27, and whether the Extended Look shows the systems that the circulating material only hints at.
