Apple's September 9 reveal gives mobile players a choice between a conventional phone with upgraded graphics and a foldable with a larger playing surface. iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max start at $1,199 and $1,299 in the US; iPhone Duo starts at $1,999. The foldable therefore carries a $700 premium over the starting Pro Max.
The Pro arrives a month before the foldable
Pro preorders open September 12, with availability from September 18 in the first markets. Duo preorders begin October 16, followed by availability on October 23. These are Apple's announced market waves, not verified Israeli retail dates or shekel prices.
That gap matters if a new phone is needed soon: the two designs cannot be compared as products arriving on the same shelf this week. It also gives buyers interested in the foldable time to assess the Pro before Duo orders open.
A bigger view is a different upgrade from more frames
Both lines use A20 Pro. Apple says the Pro's 7-core GPU is up to 40% faster than A19 Pro and pairs it with revised cooling. That is a vendor performance claim, not a promise that every game will run 40% faster; game settings and frame-rate limits still determine what a player sees.
Duo instead changes the physical canvas: a 7.6-inch inner screen and 5.4-inch outer screen share an aspect ratio. A larger image can make text and touch controls easier to see, but does not itself establish extra game content or higher frame rates. The useful comparison is therefore display space against price and portability, alongside actual game performance once independent testing is available.
