Metal Slug Ultimate Collection’s ten entries include nine released games and a location-test version of the original that never received an official release. SNK announced a 2027 launch for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, with pricing still undecided.

The selection includes Metal Slug through Metal Slug 7, Metal Slug X and Metal Slug Advance. Advance’s handheld origin and the unreleased test build give the package a broader archival purpose than another compilation of familiar arcade releases. A location test was a public arcade trial during development; it should not be mistaken for a newly produced sequel.

Rewind changes how you can learn a mission

The collection adds rewind and quick saves, while the producer’s Xbox Wire explanation also lists mission selection and adjustable rapid fire. In practical terms, retrying a short difficult stretch can be more useful for learning than restarting a whole run. That is the potential value of the support tools, rather than evidence that the ports have already been tested.

SNK also lists online rankings and a gallery. Features vary by title, so the collection-level list is not a promise that every game supports every mode. Wishlisting is available; an exact release date and price remain unannounced in the cited material.
