All six episodes of The Trap are now streaming on Netflix. The German psychological thriller follows Lisa Konrad, a successful author who has stayed inside her home for nearly 10 years after witnessing her sister Anna's murder. When Lisa recognises the suspected killer on television, she offers him an interview and prepares her house as bait.
The interview gives Lisa control without making her safe
Friederike Becht plays Lisa, while Hans Löw plays journalist Robert Lenzen, the man she believes she saw on the night of the killing. Their planned conversation turns the usual true-crime interview inside out: Lisa is both host and witness, but she must allow her target into the space that has protected her for a decade. The premise creates a confrontation without revealing whether her identification is correct.
The limited format keeps the mystery to six episodes
Netflix identifies The Trap as a six-part limited series rather than an open-ended returning drama. The complete season arrived together on October 13, so viewers can follow the investigation without waiting for weekly releases. The series is adapted from German author Melanie Raabe's novel of the same name and is rated TV-MA on Netflix's title page.
The team behind Dear Child reunites for another thriller
Isabel Kleefeld serves as writer, director and creative producer, with Constantin Film producers Tom Spiess and Friederich Oetker. The same core team previously made Netflix's Dear Child, which won the International Emmy for TV Movie/Mini-Series. The connection sets an expectation for a tightly controlled German mystery, but it is production context rather than proof that the new series reaches the same result.
The supporting cast keeps the case close to Lisa
Matthias Brandt plays Lisa's publisher, Ferdinand, and Nina Kunzendorf plays police commissioner Seiler. Marvin Linke appears as police officer Jakob, with Sina Martens as Anna and Lena Urzendowsky as young Lisa. The score comes from Volker Bertelmann and Ben Winkler; Bertelmann won an Academy Award for All Quiet on the Western Front. Together, those roles frame the story around Lisa's memory, the original investigation and the people who control access to her account.
