The season is in production on O‘ahu and Hawai‘i Island. Netflix marked the start with images from a Hawaiian blessing. Filming locally does not by itself establish that every landscape on screen is inside the national park, and the production has not released a complete location list.
Eric Bana and the new cast
Eric Bana returns as Turner. Shea Whigham plays Ray Burkart, Kelly Hu plays Awapuhi, Moon Bloodgood plays Layla Hale, and Kekoa Kekumano plays park ranger Marcus Sawada. Netflix’s current cast list also includes Luciane Buchanan, Moronai Kanekoa, Matthew Keoni Sato, Robbie Magasiva, Myra Molloy, Branscombe Richmond and Joe Tippett.
How the series is changing
The creators originally envisioned the first season as a standalone six-episode story, then chose to continue Turner’s story with a new mystery. That structure lets the investigation reset while carrying the agent’s experience and personal damage forward. Netflix has not said whether Season 2 also contains six episodes.
