Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is bringing back Annihilation Battle for Mission 7, giving pilots a timed battlefield rather than a fixed procession of objectives. Bandai Namco says the mission launches players into a counterattack against Sotoan forces on the way to the game’s October 2, 2026 release on PS5.

Target order now changes what survives the first strike

The map includes a solar plant, oil tanks, an air base and an ammunition dump. Players decide which threats to remove first and when to cross the return line to replenish weapons. That makes ammunition and travel time part of the score chase: a distant high-value target may be worth delaying if a nearby supply cluster can be erased more efficiently.

Ace Combat 8 adds chain destruction to that familiar structure. An explosion at an oil tank can destroy neighboring buildings, while a downed aircraft may damage structures near its crash site. The useful change is not simply larger explosions; attack angle and timing can turn one weapon into several destroyed targets.

The campaign pairs free-form sorties with oversized threats

The same reveal names two campaign-scale dangers. Megafloat Fatsia is a six-kilometer artificial island with a 2,000-meter runway and layered defenses. Tonitrus Spear is a fictional orbital kinetic weapon firing dense metal rods from a 500-kilometer orbit. Those specifications describe the game’s setting, not real-world performance claims, but they show how the campaign alternates open target selection with set-piece hazards.
