Dune: Awakening is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Game Pass with a full single-player mode. The launch update also makes the whole Book One story playable from beginning to end, giving players a way through Arrakis that no longer depends on joining a shared survival server.
Solo play comes with granular survival controls
Players can choose one of three difficulty presets or adjust individual rules. Funcom lists sandstorm behavior, harvesting and experience multipliers, building limits and item durability among the available settings. That makes the new mode more than an offline-shaped copy of the MMO loop: players can reduce resource friction or keep harsher survival rules.
The broader game can also be approached entirely through PvE. Funcom says PvP is avoidable without losing content, mechanics or rewards. Seven mission locations and six Imperial Testing Stations have been added, while the completion of Book One removes the previous narrative stopping point.
Xbox performance is defined; cross-play is still pending
On Xbox, Performance mode targets 60 frames per second at dynamic 4K, while Quality mode targets 30 fps at dynamic 4K. Series X uses a higher native resolution and enhanced visuals. Xbox Play Anywhere supplies shared progress between Xbox console and Xbox on PC, but full cross-play with other platforms is scheduled for a post-launch update and is not part of the release-day package.
