MapleStory Classic World completed its global launch on October 21 at 11:00 AM PDT, or 18:00 UTC. That converted to 21:00 in Israel, where Nexon places accounts in its GLOBAL region. The new world is available on Windows and macOS through the Nexon Launcher and Steam.
There is no upfront price for Grand Launch access. On Steam, Classic World sits inside the free-to-play MapleStory listing and requires the bundled base-game installation; Nexon's launcher instead offers it as a smaller standalone client. Both routes require a Nexon account, and the business model still includes a Cash Shop.
Classic World starts smaller than live MapleStory
Every character begins as a Beginner on Maple Island, then reaches Victoria Island and chooses Warrior, Magician, Bowman or Thief at level 10. Second-job branches open at level 30, while the current character cap stops at level 100. Nexon's launch notes do not include third jobs, Orbis or El Nath; Forgotten Hollow is also held for a November update.
That narrower scope is the clearest difference from today's MapleStory, whose Steam page advertises more than 40 classes. Classic World also starts a separate set of characters and in-game names. Maple Points and MVP benefits do not carry over, and Challenger World characters cannot transfer. The one shared balance is NX, Nexon's paid currency; Classic World also has Leaf Points as an alternative Cash currency.
This is an old foundation with new systems and balance changes
Classic World is not a frozen copy of one old client. Nexon describes it as early MapleStory rebuilt with gameplay improvements, balance adjustments and quality-of-life changes. Its launch version adds account-wide Housing in Henesys and Kerning City, a Crafting system from level 10 and Citizenship from level 12. Citizenship gives town-specific shops and service discounts, while Crafting turns gathered materials into usable items.
The launch maintenance also changed class balance rather than preserving historical values untouched. Swordsman's bonus healing from items rose from 5–20% to 20–50%, Iron Body's Weapon DEF range changed from 5–25% to 20–40%, and Magician's bonus MP recovery from items increased from 5–20% to 10–25%. New accounts also face a trade lock until 24 hours after one character reaches level 15.
Windia opened with 40 channels, not a confirmed queue crisis
Nexon's completed maintenance notice says Windia was expanded to 40 channels for Grand Launch, while the Kerning City Party Quest was moved to channels 8–12. The official launch notices reviewed for this article do not report a launch-day queue or widespread public-launch outage, and no reputable outlet located in our checks had independently established one by October 22. Individual player posts describe login and character-creation trouble, but those anecdotes are not strong enough to define the overall launch.
