Overwatch Season 5: A Grim Doctrine is live, adding Doctrine to the Support roster and opening Grímsvötn, the first new Escort map since Overwatch 2 launched. The season also moves Sombra from Damage to Support, giving the familiar hacker a role change rather than a smaller numerical rebalance.
Unvaulted Passes remove the either-or progression choice
Revised Battle Passes from Seasons 1–15 return as Unvaulted Passes. Players can progress one of them alongside the current Battle Pass, with match XP feeding both tracks. Previous free-track progress carries forward, and an acquired Unvaulted Pass remains permanently available instead of expiring at the end of Season 5.
Graveyard Games changes powers after every death
Mystery Madness: Graveyard Games combines Mystery Heroes, Junkenstein's Lab and Stadium. Death does not simply reset the same build: the selected hero returns with a new power, allowing repeated deaths to push a match into progressively stranger combinations. The Halloween event and its Offering-based voting system run through November 2.
A separate Overwatch x Shadow Monarch collaboration ends October 19, while the Tech Witches collection runs October 9–26. Team Drives return October 29–November 1, after the collaboration windows close, so the season's rewards do not share one universal deadline.
The update also reworks Roadhog and introduces Mythic Dragon Shaoxia Wuyang plus Lucio's Treblemaker Mythic Weapon. Those cosmetic tracks sit beside the more consequential systems change: old-pass progress can now coexist with the live season instead of replacing it.
