Pro Jank Footy launches August 12 on PlayStation 5, turning Australian Rules Football into an arcade sports game inspired by the fast, exaggerated energy of NBA Jam and NHL '94.
How Pro Jank Footy's power-ups work
Whenever one side scores a goal, the opponent chooses one of three random power-ups. The comeback system rewards the trailing player and can improve a team, weaken its opponent or rewrite the match rules entirely.
Powerbomb Games says the game contains more than 150 powers. Effects can enlarge or speed up a team, reset the scores, add a third team, turn every player into a seagull or replace one athlete with a battered sedan.
Every announced game mode
- Pro Jank Footy enables the full power-up system for chaotic arcade matches.
- Normal Footy removes the powers for a more traditional ruleset.
- Season Mode is a solo campaign against ten increasingly unusual teams.
- Watch Mode lets the AI play, while Kick-to-Kick recalls classic Aussie Rules games.
Multiplayer options
The design centers on couch multiplayer, but solo matches against bots and online play are also supported. The flexible modes should let newcomers learn the sport without giving up the deliberately absurd mechanics that define the game.
