Marvel Tōkon Open Beta Ended July 26: Roster, Modes and Launch Listing

Marvel Tōkon's 72-hour open beta ended July 26 after offering 15 fighters and six stages. PlayStation lists the full game's release as August 6, but regional store status should be checked directly.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls ran a 72-hour open beta ahead of its August launch. The test began July 24 at 12:00 a.m. PT and ended July 26 at 11:59 p.m. PT, giving players a full weekend to try Arc System Works’ 4v4 tag fighter.

Marvel Tōkon open beta dates and platforms

The beta was available on PlayStation 5, Steam and the Epic Games Store. No registration was required, and PlayStation says the download was scheduled to appear two hours before the servers open. PS5 players did not need a PlayStation Plus subscription, although every player needs an internet connection and a PlayStation account.

Start: July 24 at 12:00 a.m. PT / 8:00 a.m. BST / 4:00 p.m. JST. End: July 26 at 11:59 p.m. PT, which is July 27 at 7:59 a.m. BST / 3:59 p.m. JST.

All 15 playable characters

Fifteen of the game’s 20 launch fighters were available. Blade makes his playable debut alongside heroes and villains drawn from the Avengers, X-Men, Guardians and other Marvel teams.

  • Unbreakable X-Men: Storm, Magik, Wolverine and Danger
  • Amazing Guardians: Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord and Peni Parker
  • Samurai Outriders: Ghost Rider and Blade
  • Knights of Doom: Doctor Doom and Magneto

Modes, stages and launch date

The test includes casual and ranked online matches, local Versus play against another player or the CPU, a tutorial, Training Mode and an open lobby. Six stages are included: Marvel’s New York by day and night, Savage Land, X-Mansion, Knowhere and Wakanda.

Players can also sample the first three chapters of the Amazing Guardians Episode Mode. The full game is listed by PlayStation with an August 6 release date, making this beta the clearest opportunity to test its team systems before release.

The 15-character beta roster comprised Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Storm, Magik, Wolverine, Danger, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Peni Parker, Ghost Rider, Blade, Doctor Doom and Magneto. Its six stages were Marvel's New York by day and night, Savage Land, X-Mansion, Knowhere and Wakanda.

PlayStation's product page lists August 6, 2026 for PS5 and PC, with August 7 in New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Korea. It also lists 20 launch characters, optional offline play, online play requiring PlayStation Plus on PS5 and support for up to 64 players in the online lobby.
