Xbox is testing new console controls for clearing recent Home items, managing local saves, showing richer profile badges and automatically removing purchased games from wishlists.
The rollout starts in the Alpha rings
Microsoft began rolling these features to Xbox Insiders on August 19. Most are appearing first in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings, although selected changes are available more broadly. That distinction matters: this is a test program, not a promise that every retail console already has every control described here.
Home controls can clear individual recent items
The Home changes let testers remove individual entries from the recent-content row, including the Play History tile. An immersive background can also be activated with the right thumbstick. Together, the controls give players more say over what occupies the first screen without requiring a complete dashboard redesign.
Local copies can go without erasing cloud saves
Local save copies can now be reviewed under Settings, System, Storage and Manage local game saves. Deleting an unused local copy does not erase the cloud backup, according to Xbox; the game should synchronize that backup when it is opened again. Players should still confirm a successful cloud sync before cleaning storage.
Profile badges and wishlists get smaller upgrades
Profiles gain higher-resolution badge art and more context about how a badge was earned. A new commemorative badge recognizes accounts that unlocked the Day One achievement on Xbox One. Purchased games are also removed from wishlists automatically, reducing alerts for products the account already owns.
Xbox has not set a public release date
Xbox has not supplied a retail-release date for the complete bundle. Insider features can change, move between rings or be withdrawn after feedback. Anyone outside the program should use the announcement as a preview, while testers should report reproducible problems through the console's Report a problem workflow.
