In Hela: Of Mice & Magic, gathering a plant is the beginning of a route through the world rather than a quick trip through a crafting menu. Windup Games says players bring ingredients back to a witch’s cottage and follow distinct, interactive steps to brew Remedies. Those tools can change movement, puzzle solutions and cooperation.
A new Remedy gives old places a second purpose
The studio describes forests, meadows and wetlands inspired by Northern Sweden. As the collection of Remedies grows, an earlier path or obstacle may become approachable in a different way. That makes the important question after a brew “where can we go now?” rather than simply “how much stronger are we?”
Windup says every recipe has its own sequence of actions. The claim points to a tactile workshop loop, but the studio has not given a full recipe list or shown how often a remedy will be needed. The useful promise is the link between gathering and revisiting spaces; its depth will depend on the finished game.
Co-op changes the approach, not puzzle eligibility
The developers say every puzzle can be completed solo, while co-op lets players combine tools and approaches. That distinction matters for anyone interested in the small-scale adventure but without a regular group: multiplayer is presented as an alternative way to experiment, not as a gate to progression.
Hela is scheduled for December 1, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and day one in Xbox Game Pass, according to Windup’s Xbox Wire post. The announcement does not identify which Game Pass tier includes it, so prospective subscribers should check the current store listing before committing.
