Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance adds a temporary Boost state powered by the Boost Bracer, but the interesting rule is how a hunter can keep it alive. PlayStation Blog's September 16 Tokyo Game Show preview says the gauge fills over time and with hits, then drains during Boost. Breaking a wound with a Focus Strike in that state refills it. This is a reported demo observation from PlayStation's writer, not a NexusGG hands-on test.
Boost rewards a prepared opening, not just a full meter
Capcom's reveal says the Bracer enhances the strengths of all 14 weapon types. The PlayStation preview adds a practical sequence: build gauge, create or preserve a wound, trigger Boost, then time a Focus Strike before the state expires. That suggests hunters will get more from planning where to break a wound than from activating Boost the instant the meter is ready. Exact gauge values and weapon-by-weapon balance have not been published.
The same preview describes an Araketa leader that coordinates its pack in Skybound Eyrie. A roar exposes a throat weak spot; striking it interrupts the leader's orders. That makes Focus Strike serve two different purposes in this encounter: disrupting a pack attack and, when Boost is active, extending the attack window. PlayStation's writer also reports that a curled-up Gundoraja can be thrown to stagger Araketa, another tool for buying room against several enemies.
Ascendance is planned for PS5 in 2027. Capcom says it requires the base game, Hunter Rank 40 and completion of the quest ‘Awaking From a Dream’ to enter its story and Master Rank. The free Wilds Prologue Demo lets newcomers try all 14 weapon types and carry their save into the full game, but it does not replace those expansion requirements.
