Moomintroll: Winter's Warmth comes to PlayStation 5 on September 18. Hyper Games says its second Moomin adventure begins when Moomintroll wakes from hibernation before the rest of his family. He sets out to bring spring back, wake them and reunite with Snufkin. It is a puzzle adventure, not a new entry in the studio's earlier Snufkin-led musical journey.
The snow is part of the storybook effect
The studio combines 3D forms with painted 2D elements to evoke Tove Jansson's watercolor illustrations. Its terrain uses simple shapes under a deformable snow layer, which reacts when characters move through it. That technical choice gives a mostly flat, illustrated landscape a sense of weight: tracks and displaced snow make Moomintroll's solitary trip legible without abandoning the drawn-book look.
Hyper Games also points to small references inside the scenery, including the Ancestor and Hattifatteners on a carpet, rather than building the adaptation only around familiar faces. The winter setting is more melancholy than the springtime premise of Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley. The contrast suggests a different sort of Moomin journey: less about following a travelling friend, more about making a cold and quiet valley feel inhabited again.
