Phantom Blade Zero launches on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 29, 2026, 50 days later than its original September 9 date. S-GAME's creative director said in June that the extra time would go into upgraded character models and reworked environments so the launch version would not depend on post-release patches. The PC version is sold through Steam and the Epic Games Store; no Xbox version has been announced.
In the US, the PlayStation Store and Steam both price the Standard Edition at $59.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition at $69.99. Steam's Israeli storefront lists them at ₪149.95 and ₪179.95. The PlayStation Store sets the PS5 unlock at 02:00 UTC on October 29, which is 04:00 in Israel and 7:00 p.m. Pacific on October 28. Steam lists the PC release as October 28, consistent with the same evening unlock in the Americas, but S-GAME has not published an official PC unlock hour.
The $10 Deluxe upgrade buys cosmetics, not early access
The Digital Deluxe Edition adds two exclusive outfits, Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form, plus a digital artbook and soundtrack. Neither the official site nor the PlayStation Store lists early access, an expansion pass or extra playable content for the higher price.
Pre-ordering either edition unlocks the Treasure Basin accessory, which raises Remnant Dust drops by 10%, and the Legacy outfit. S-GAME calls them early-unlock items, and the store pages say both can also be earned through normal progression. The pre-order offer is a head start, not exclusive equipment, which removes most of the pressure to buy before reviews.
Three six-hour previews put the combat first
Several outlets played roughly six hours at a publisher event in Los Angeles, with previews published October 8. RPGFan called the parry-and-dodge system extremely fluid and noted that it could cancel a combo into a special move without much penalty. RPGamer singled out Sha-Chi, a shared stamina and guard meter that fully refills when you swap between your two equipped weapons, which turns weapon switching into the core boss tactic. The Outerhaven highlighted the red unblockable and blue parryable attack tells, and a checkpoint that restarts a multi-phase boss at its second phase after a death.
The main criticism came from RPGFan: ordinary enemies in its session felt more like combo dummies than threats, which slowed exploration, while bosses were much better tuned. RPGamer added that weapon upgrades can be reallocated at any time, so a boss that punishes one weapon's reach can be retried with another build rather than ground through.
Phantom Blade Zero is neither an open world nor a boss rush
The boss-heavy trailers left open how the rest of the game is built. RPGFan described a nonlinear structure of open zones with side quests, hidden caches, shortcuts and optional bosses, plus Metroidvania-style tools such as a bow and grappling axes that open earlier areas. RPGamer called it not quite an open world but not entirely linear, with branching paths and a hand-painted ink map. RPGamer's session covered the first of eight chapters, so the previews describe the opening, not the full game's pacing.
No review scores yet, and no PS5 impressions
As of October 19, Metacritic lists the Metascore and user score as to be determined. The available impressions come from pre-release builds at an event S-GAME organized; RPGFan disclosed that S-GAME paid for its travel, lodging and meals, and RPGamer noted that its build may differ from the final release. Both RPGFan and The Outerhaven played on high-end PCs, and none of the three reported on the PS5 version.
That leaves performance as the open question for most buyers. Steam's minimum specification, a GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT, targets 1080p at 30 fps with upscaling, and the recommended RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT targets 1440p at 60 fps with upscaling; an SSD is required and the game uses Denuvo. Steam lists 15 languages, with full audio in English and Simplified Chinese; Hebrew is not among them.
For players weighing the purchase, the official listings help: adjustable difficulty, manual saving, and more than 30 primary weapons and 20 Phantom Edges for Soul, a swordsman framed for his master's murder with 66 days to live. With no pre-order-exclusive gear, the sensible checkpoint is the first full reviews on base PS5 and mid-range PC.
