The most practical MapleStory Classic World route is quests on Maple Island, the Kerning City Subway and nearby forests through level 20, Ant Tunnel or the Kerning City Party Quest through 30, then a mix of Subway, Florina Road, Ellinia and Sleepywood maps through 70. This guide is current for the v1.0.0 Grand Launch build and was checked on October 25, 2026.
Nexon does not publish an official fastest leveling route. The map choices below reconcile three current community guides and spawn databases, without promising an EXP-per-hour rate. Treat each level band as a starting point: if a monster takes more than two or three attacks, or the map is crowded, the easier alternative will usually be the better use of potions and time.
The 1–70 training route at a glance
- Levels 1–8: finish the Maple Island quest chain and hunt on the nearby Snail and Mushroom fields only when a quest leaves a gap.
- Levels 8–15: use Thicket Around the Beach I or II after reaching Lith Harbor, then move to Tree Dungeon, Forest Up North IV or West Rocky Mountain III.
- Levels 15–20: hunt Bubblings in Line 1 <Area 1>. Ranged jobs can move to Stirges in Dangerous Steam; melee jobs can stay on Green Mushrooms or Dark Axe Stumps if the flying targets are awkward.
- Levels 21–30: rotate between Ant Tunnel III, Deep Ant Tunnel I and Ant Tunnel Park. The Land of Wild Boar II is a simpler melee alternative, while Kerning City Party Quest adds a group route.
- Levels 30–35: complete second job first, then use Jr. Wraiths in Line 2 <Area 1> or Line 1 <Area 2>. The Burnt Land V is an outdoor alternative for characters that clear Fire Boars comfortably.
- Levels 36–45: start with Lorang maps on Florina Road, then try Tree Dungeon, Monkey Forest II or Monkey Swamp III. Stay on Jr. Wraiths if the next bracket is slow or expensive.
- Levels 46–55: use Wraiths in Line 2 <Area 2>, Line 2 <Area 3> or Line 1 <Area 4>. Lorang and Clang, Hot Sand and Dangerous Croko II are useful backups.
- Levels 56–60: move to Sleepy Dungeon V or III for Dark Stone Golems. The Forest of Evil II and the Wraith lines remain sensible when travel, crowding or class matchups favor them.
- Levels 61–70: Dangerous Valley II and Wild Kargo's Area provide higher-level targets, but their thinner spawns can lose to familiar Wraith, Malady or Dark Stone Golem maps that a character clears quickly.
Finish Maple Island before chasing a grind map
Maple Island's quests are the route, not a distraction from it. They introduce the inventory, movement and early consumables while carrying a new Beginner toward the first job. Clear the available chain before taking the one-way trip to Victoria Island; after reaching Lith Harbor, fill any remaining gap near town and head toward the instructor for your chosen job.
The exact first job and later branch change which layouts feel good. Our MapleStory Classic World class guide compares all four launch jobs and their level-30 paths without repeating this map route.
KPQ becomes a useful alternative at level 21
Kerning City Party Quest gives levels 21–30 a break from solo grinding. Nexon's Grand Launch maintenance expanded KPQ to Channels 8–12, bringing the launch range to Channels 3–12. The same v1.0.0 patch increased potion drops from monsters between levels 10 and 30, so the early Subway and Ant Tunnel route should also refill more of its own consumables than it did before launch.
Do not wait indefinitely for a party. Ant Tunnel III and Deep Ant Tunnel I are the stable solo fallback, and The Land of Wild Boar II gives melee characters a flatter, less punishing option. A quiet backup map is often faster than competing for every spawn on the guide's first choice.
Second job changes the best map more than the level number
At level 30, finish the second-job advancement before settling into the next grind. Jr. Wraiths are a strong common route, but the alternatives matter: ranged attacks handle Stirges and beach lanes more cleanly, Clerics benefit from maps full of undead monsters such as Jr. Wraiths and Wraiths, and a melee character with uneven accuracy may do better staying on a lower-level target. These are class-matchup recommendations from community guides, not official Nexon rankings.
The real move-on test is clear speed. Try the next map for several spawn cycles and watch how often attacks miss, how many hits each monster takes and how quickly potions disappear. If all three get worse, return to the previous bracket or change channel rather than forcing the nominally higher-level map.
Levels 61–70 are a choice between target level and spawn density
Victoria Island has higher-level Red Drakes and Wild Kargos, but current guides agree that these maps are sparse enough for lower-level Wraith, Malady or Dark Stone Golem maps to remain competitive when a character clears them quickly. That is why the route stops making one hard recommendation after 60: test Dangerous Valley II, then go back if waiting for monsters replaces actual fighting.
Classic World's launch cap is 100, but its opening map pool does not provide a smooth ladder of regular monsters all the way there. Players using a gamepad can set up the PlayStation controller layout before committing to a long Subway or Sleepywood session.
