Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault leaves Early Access on September 2, completing its main story and launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the full PC release. Developer Digital Sun and publisher 11 bit studios say the console versions arrive with version 1.0 rather than beginning a separate preview period.
The game is also included with Game Pass, according to the publisher's launch release and Xbox Wire. A free demo is available across the announced platforms, giving players a way to test the new 3D version of Moonlighter's dungeon-and-shop loop before buying or subscribing.
Version 1.0 finishes the story and opens a harsher postgame
The full release adds the conclusion to Will's story in Tresna, then extends the endgame with the Infinite Endless Vault. The publisher describes it as an escalating sequence of treasure-filled runs rather than a final fixed floor. Hardcore mode raises the penalty further: dying in a dungeon sends the player back to the beginning, echoing the original Moonlighter's harsher risk-and-reward structure.
This is a launch brief based on the developers' version 1.0 notes, not a hands-on review. The announcement establishes the modes and intended rules, but it does not measure final balance, performance or how long the completed story takes to finish.
Four Endless weapon variants change how a build spends its risk
Version 1.0 adds Endless versions of the short sword, great sword, spear and gauntlets. Their special abilities reward different commitments: the short sword scales a multi-hit thrust with the current combo, the great sword blocks before counterattacking, the spear consumes stored spearheads for a temporary power window, and the gauntlets amplify offense while Berserk is active.
The update also introduces a machine-gun gadget, Endless armor, the Bomb Path that marks enemies for area explosions, another Bloblet slot at Shop Level 5, more cosmetics and additional Codex pages. These additions connect the combat half of the loop to the shop half instead of treating version 1.0 as a story patch alone.
Digital launches today; boxed editions follow in November
The September 2 release covers PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo lists the Switch 2 download at 11 GB and confirms handheld, tabletop and TV play. Physical standard and collector's editions are scheduled for November 13, so players who want a box have a separate wait from the digital launch.
The announced platform list does not include PlayStation 4, Xbox One or the original Nintendo Switch. That does not establish that older-console versions can never happen, but buyers should not treat them as part of the September 2 launch. The confirmed choices are current-generation consoles and PC.
