Shape of Dreams is available on PS5 with cross-play active from launch. Players can enter its roguelite runs alone or in online groups of four, with PS5 lobbies connected to PC and other console players. That platform detail matters for a co-op game built around combining independent character builds.
Essences rewrite abilities instead of adding small bonuses
Memories are the abilities a Traveler equips. Essences slot into those Memories and change their function: a single-target attack can chain to nearby enemies, or repeated hits can shorten its cooldown. Lizard Smoothie says the game contains more than 200 Memories and Essences, so the main build decision is how the pieces interact rather than which item has a larger number.
Co-op makes those interactions communal. One player can freeze a group while another amplifies damage against frozen targets, or gather enemies so the party can hit them together. The game does not lock participants into fixed tank, healer and damage roles.
The Starless Path changes long-term progression
The PS5 launch includes the first-anniversary update The Starless Path. It adds frost tank Cetus, story episodes, a new ending, stronger boss patterns and six Universal Identity Memories that can replace a Traveler’s native passive. Constellation progress also persists after a failed run, separating long-term growth from temporary run loot.
